CAPTURING STORIES: CELEBRATING MIGRANT WORKERS THROUGH PHOTOGRAPHY

The Migrant Workers Photography Festival (MWPF) is a biennial festival co-organised by both locals and migrants from many different countries that aims to showcase the creative talents of migrant workers in Singapore through photography. Their photographs amplify the perspectives of the migrant community and bridge the current social divide between the migrant and the local community. In Singapore, migrant workers contribute immeasurably to our communities, economy, and culture. Their journeys are marked by perseverance, sacrifice, and untold stories waiting to be shared.

This year's theme is Longing and Belonging. In every photo, we glimpse the raw emotions of longing – a longing for the embrace of loved ones left behind, for the familiar sights and sounds of home. But among the longing, there is a strong desire for belonging - the desire to carve out a space and force bonds in a new environment. From personal stories to current affairs, the MPWF allows us insights that easily escape our jaded point of views.

This year's festival is held at Objectifs, a non-profit visual arts space located conveniently nestled within the Bugis arts district, and will run till 24/03/24.

FotoHub is proud to be supporting this festival by sponsoring the prints.
